About Maria Montessori
1980-1952
Maria Tecla Artemisia Montessori was an Italian physician and educator best known for the philosophy of education that bears her name, and her writing on scientific pedagogy. She was one of the first women to attend medical school in Italy; she graduated with honors in 1896. Her educational method is in use today in many public and private schools globally. Montessori implemented a number of practices that became hallmarks of her educational philosophy and method.
Maria Montessori discovered that when young children concentrate and investigate a set of purposefully designed activities, they tend to develop self-control; their movements become ordered, and they appear peaceful. Their demeanor towards others becomes kind and gentle. Children in Elementary and Secondary Montessori schools displayed tremendous enthusiasm, as they explored and studied topics in great detail. Their learning achievements were profound. The Montessori process fully engages children’s natural learning potentials, Montessori students learn about themselves, develop self-confidence, communicate effectively, and work well in groups.

Our Programs
At ROLO Montessori School, we nurture and help each child develop positive self-esteem, and feel loved and respected in a caring and nourishing environment. While promoting good manners, respect for parents, and setting the stepping stones for a successful future, we incorporate the value of being an Indian.
Foundational
The Foundational program is for children between 5 and 8 years of age. The focus will be on sensory-motor activities, the music and songs are part of the circle time. Children will learn vocabulary, word building, writing, recognition of numerals, and counters as well as addition.
Preparatory
The Preparatory classroom contains children ranging from ages 8 to 11 years.The curriculum is designed to better prepare the child for middle school. In the classroom the emphasis is on academic learning. Reading, writing, and mathematics.
After School
With both parents working and many parents who work outside off the home, children need adult supervisor after school. During after school hours children receive necessary academic assistance to complete any homework and engaging enrichment activities.
